Erika Kirk says she forgives her husband’s killer
The wife of slain conservative influencer Charlie Kirk spoke of forgiveness at her husband’s funeral.
Erika Kirk appeared overcome by emotion as she said she forgives the man who allegedly shot and killed Kirk, earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
“I forgive him,” Erika said.

Modified e-bike ban on NSW trains
Bringing modified e-bikes onto NSW trains will soon come with fines of up to $1000.
The ban comes amid a spate of e-bike fires on public transport, and will take effect from November.
Standard e-bikes do not fall under the ban, but anyone caught with a converted e-bike — which pose a greater risk of battery fires — on TrainLink or Metro services, will be fined.

Donald Trump speaks at Charlie Kirk funeral
Donald Trump has now taken to the stage at the funeral for Charlie Kirk.
“Less than two weeks ago our country was robbed of one of the brightest lights of our times,” Trump said at the Arizona service.
“A giant of his generation and, above all, a devoted husband, father, son, Christian and patriot.
“Charles James Kirk was heinously murdered by a radicalised, cold-blooded monster, for speaking the truth that was in his heart.
“He was violently killed because he spoke for freedom and justice, for God, his country, for reason and for common sense.
“He lived boldly and he argued brilliantly without apology. He did what was right for our nation.”
“Our greatest evangelist for American liberty became immortal, he’s a martyr now for American freedom.”

PM speaks after recognising Palestinian state
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has recognised the state of Palestine.
“This is the world saying that this cycle of violence has to stop. This is a cycle that has gone on now for 80 years,” Albanese said.
He joins the leaders of Canada and the UK in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, during which France and Saudi Arabia will lead further action towards a two-state solution.
Their recognition of Palestinian sovereignty, and demands for ceasefire have landed the nations’ leaders in hot water with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The stance also puts Australia in direct opposition to US President Donald Trump, who Albanese is set to speak with soon.
“The Palestinian authority needs to be democratised and reformed, including in education and legal systems. The world wants to play a role in that,” Albanese said.
“The humanitarian catastrophe that we see rolling out in Gaza has to end.
“We want to see a ceasefire, we want to see hostages released, and we want to see aid be able to get into Gaza.”
