Democrat Party strategist James Carville is convinced that President Joe Biden remaining in the 2024 race is exactly what Donald Trump wants.
“What we are doing right now, we’re doing exactly what Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago wants us to do,” he said Friday on MSNBC. “If the Democratic Party is hellbent on pleasing Donald Trump, then go ahead and [run Biden]. It’s just that simple.”
He then slammed so-called “Washington-types” who’ve taken issue with his idea for former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton to hold town halls to pick a replacement for Biden.
“Well, I don’t care [what they think]!” he exclaimed. “Do something! Don’t just stand there! The details are, we are on track to lose an election to a major criminal who is going to destroy the western alliance, the Constitution and everything in between. So we ought to act like it.”
FYI, the only ones who’ve displayed a desire to destroy the Constitution are Democrats like Biden and Carville.
Listen to Carville below:
MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell then asked him whether he thinks top Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries share his deeply pessimistic outlook on the election.
“I think they’re mortified,” Carville replied. “I think they want to make a change. I think they see the path that we’re on. “Think about it. You know exactly what Donald Trump wants us to do. You know precisely what Steve Bannon wants us to do, and we’re hellbent on pleasing them.”
“I think it’s a big mistake. I thought it was. I still do. I’m highly unlikely to change my mind because of some namby-pamby technical reasons about how you put a town hall together,” he added.
Concluding his remarks, he warned that Democrat donors are shutting off the spigot because of their unhappiness with Biden.
“The donor class is shutting down,” he said. “I know these people. Not only are they shutting down contributions to the Biden campaign, they are shutting down contributions to the Senate committee, to the House committee.”
“Unlike me, all I can do is shut my mouth. That would make a lot of people happy. But they shut their wallet and they will make a lot of people unhappy, and that’s going on, a very underappreciated story, and it goes beyond just the top of the ticket,” he added.
Though often wrong, Carville was in fact 100 percent right Friday about both Trump wanting Biden to stay and Democrat donors turning off the spigot to display their opposition to the president’s candidacy.
BREAKING: Major Democrat donors to the largest pro-Biden super PAC have frozen $90 million in pledged donations, per the NYT, until Joe Biden steps down. Reports say a “coordinated Democrat rebellion” will be underway over the next 48 hours. pic.twitter.com/4e4aWmaHOj

“Some major Democratic donors have told the largest pro-Biden super PAC, Future Forward, that pledges worth roughly $90 million are now on hold if President Biden remains atop the ticket,” The New York Times reported Friday, citing its sources.
“The frozen contributions include multiple eight-figure commitments. … The decision to withhold such enormous sums of money is one of the most concrete examples of the fallout from Mr. Biden’s poor debate performance at the end of June,” the Times added.
Meanwhile, Politico confirmed on Thursday that former President Trump’s “advisers and allies” were all thrilled by President Biden’s press conference earlier that evening.
As previously reported, the president performed well enough to survive but not well enough to avoid mockery.
Speaking from the NATO summit late Thursday, the president held a press conference during which he sought to reassure his critics that he remains with it enough to serve as president for four more years.
According to critics like conservative commentator and radio show host Ben Shapiro, he just barely performed well enough to remain in the race:
He started off rough and he’s still having rough patches…but this is good enough to keep him in the race. Which is terrible news for Democrats and excellent news for Trump.
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) July 12, 2024
But as noted by Shapiro, he “started off rough.” How so? By specifically referring to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump.”
He also referred to his chief of staff as his “commander in chief,” stumbled when reading from a list of journalists, and confused Russia and China at least five times.
