Uganda's Election: NRM's Dedan Mubangizi Calls for Record-Breaking Support for President Museveni (2025)

Bold claim: Uganda’s political landscape hinges on a decisive wave of support for President Museveni and the NRM. This is the central message from Dedan Mubangizi, the Buwekula South MP candidate and flag bearer for the NRM, who is urging local leaders to intensify mobilization within their communities to solidify the party’s grip on power.

During a gathering with leaders in Kayebe Sub-county, Mubangizi urged Buwekula South to aim for a historic milestone: becoming the nation’s most steadfast NRM-leaning constituency. He explained that before fieldwork begins, the party’s representatives meet with local leaders to identify and address community challenges. This collaborative approach, he said, translates into stronger electoral support for the National Resistance Movement.

A key focus of his message is rallying behind President Museveni, whom he called the vital engine sustaining the country’s progress and gains. Mubangizi stressed that protecting and expanding Museveni’s legacy calls for a robust vote for him and for all NRM flag bearers, highlighting the need to safeguard the achievements already delivered.

Addressing rumors from critics who claim that the President permitted some individuals to run as independents, Mubangizi stated unequivocally that there are no two NRM flag bearers in any given race. He urged residents not to be misled and promised to witness the official flag bearers’ introductions on December 15, which will confirm the party’s lineup.

Mubangizi invited residents to participate in President Museveni’s rally in Kassambya Constituency on December 15, describing it as a chance to demonstrate appreciation and support. He also announced that Museveni would be in Mubende on December 15 and encouraged a large turnout to express solidarity with the President.

Security and integrity were also part of the warning to potential election riggers. Mubangizi asserted that his team is prepared to safeguard votes and cautioned would-be manipulators not to attempt illegal interference, promising there will be no opportunity to derail the process.

According to Uganda’s Electoral Commission, Buwekula South comprises 35,701 registered voters across 89 polling stations, with three candidates contesting to represent the constituency in the Twelfth Parliament.

In summary, the message centers on mobilizing a massive pro-NRM turnout to protect the party’s gains and ensure continued leadership under Museveni, while inviting community engagement and vigilance against fraud.
