UK hot weather maps show when Britain will be swallowed up by 27C Iberian blast (2024)

Britons are set to bask in a sizzling two-day hot weather blast with temperatures soaring to a blistering 27C.

Latest weather maps show that parts of the UK could start seeing thermometers rising as early as next week before a cloud of hotter air comes in from the Iberian peninsula.

According to Netweather, London might see mercury levels hitting a scorching 27C on Friday, June 28.

Even parts of Scotland won't be exempt from the heat surge, with forecasts suggesting highs of 22C in some regions, including the Edinburgh and Inverness areas.

The North East is also gearing up for a hot spell, with Newcastle, York, and Harrogate expecting temperatures around 25C.

Weather maps show most of the UK will start experiencing warmer conditions from June 27, with Northern Ireland and Wales set for highs of 23C-24C while Scotland could see thermometers hit 25C.

Jim Dale, senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, attributes the upcoming warmth to an airstream originating from Spain and France.

Mr Dale said: "If it comes off it looks like a short transfusion of very warm and somewhat humid weather, ahead of an approaching Atlantic frontal system. So, a southerly airstream c/o Spain and France.

"Expect widespread 20-22C, tops of 25-26C South East England and Moray Firth region."

Weather experts last month told the Daily Express that the UK could be on track to experience the "hottest summer ever" as they warned of a potential "super heatwave" in June.

Weather maps have shown a series of temperatures surges in quick succession starting from next week.

Meteorologists at Exacta Weather said, "it is now extremely favourable and more in agreement that high pressure will build in across our shores".

They added: "However, further influential high pressure from the Azores is also gaining some considerable strength and consistency within the next several days.

"And when this occurs, it will literally tie us into a pretty lengthy warm to hot period of weather with lots of strong and early summer sunshine building in for an extended period to end the meteorological spring and kick off the great British summer."
