- What Happened to Kate, Ashton, and the Rest of the Below Deck Season 7 Cast?
Here are the whereabouts of some of our favorite yachties, including Courtney Skippon, Rhylee Gerber, and Kate Chastain.
As the summer winds down and people are yearning to go on the vacation they didn't have the chance to take, Bravo has made a smart move by airing previous seasons of Below Deck—but if there's any season which got the most flak from fans, it's season seven of the franchise.
You'd think with the series moving to Thailand for the season, it might a bring a change in how things operate. Nope. Fans were shocked at the behavior coming from the males of the crew (apart from Captain Lee, of course), the gaslighting of relationships, and the surprise tantrums from the most senior-ranking yachties. But this also leaves fans wondering about what happened to our epic crew post-filming.
Did Abbi ever get married? Is Tanner still trying to date female stews from the motoryacht Valor after the show? And most importantly—is Kate ever going to come back to the franchise? Well, we have some answers, and let's just say, they all seem to be doing just fine post-show.
Kate Chastain
As the fan favorite of the franchise, Kate boarded Valor ready to work hard for friend/boss Captain Lee and take no prisoners for any of her colleagues' behaviors. It was clear by the end of the season she needed to step back from yachting and take some time for some self-care.
Sadly for all Below Deck fans, just after the season finale aired, Kate announced she's leaving the show and is now focusing on working onshore (and also appearing in recent Below Deck Med episodes with her own commentary). We'll definitely miss her, but it's good to see her take her life back!
Simone Mashile
When the South African beauty stepped onboard as the second stew, fans were shocked by her grace and dedication to learn the inner-workings of the interior. She might've had a romance snafu with Tanner, but she left Thailand on good terms with the rest of her crewmates.
It looks like since the season aired, she's back in yachting and working in Europe (and probably very happy not working with Kate once more).
Courtney Skippon
We stan Courtney. When she wasn't helping on deck, fans tuned in to see the third stew tackle a complicated boatmance with deckhand Brian, which later crumbled. She left Valor with a new sense of personal pride and ready to continue her career in yachting.
While her and Brian are no longer together, it looks like Courtney has taken advantage of the quarantine and is currently taking some time off from yachting in her home country of Canada.

Kevin Dobson
The New Zealander had a lot to live up to when he became the head chef of Valor. While his dishes looked beautiful, his controlling behavior of the galley (and the interior who worked within it) made him slightly unpalatable to watch. Fans likely have a hard time forgetting his, um, phallic eating creation at the end of the season.
It's hard to say what Kevin's been up to since the season wrapped, as his social media accounts are currently private to most. We could only hope he's making more good food on the next boat, spending quality time with his daughter, and that he learned his lesson on how to treat his co-workers. (We're making a bet that this season isn't the last we'll see of Dobson, either.)
Ashton Pienaar
While fans were initially excited when Ashton returned to the series as bosun, as the season went on, they had very different thoughts about his behavior towards the female crew and Captain Lee. Let's just say he left the boat on bad terms and fans were left with a bad taste in their mouths about him.
Since the season wrapped, it looks like he's taken the time in quarantine to enter the world of fitness coaching with his company AP Elite.
Rhylee Gerber
We don't know about you, but we were thrilled to see a confident Rhylee come back to Below Deck as Abbi's replacement. Unfortunately for her, Ashton clearly had it out for her, putting her down any chance he had and not letting her prove her worth and skills as an experienced deckhand. She eventually left Thailand at the end of the season with her head held high.
As of right now, it seems like she's taking some time to herself onshore, but it likely won't be long before she's captain on a fishing boat out in Alaska.

Abbi Murphy
Abbi might've only been featured on the series for a few episodes, but that's because she decided to follow her heart and leave the Valor crew to go live with her fiancé in Greece. Among the disappointed? Ashton, who definitely had his eyes set on the deckhand before she jumped ship.
It seems like her decision paid off, as she's currently married to the man she walked away for. She's also still a yachtie!
Brian de Saint Pern
Fans weren't sure what was worse: Brian's controlling nature or how he became Ashton's lackey for the misogynistic behavior towards the female crew members. He might've been a good deckhand, but his interpersonal skills left a lot to be desired by the fans.
After the season aired, Brian seems to be doing good and is living life back in his native South Africa.
Tanner Sterback
When the proud Long Islander was not working on the exterior of the boat, he was busy gaslighting his and Simone's relationship while simultaneously trying to hook up with Kate. Not such a good look, bro.
Well, at least he seems to be doing well; he's back on Long Island and staying safe onshore. But it might be fun to see him back again for another season, maybe with Colin?

Captain Lee Rosbach
Clearly the best part of Below Deck, the stud of the sea has one rule only, which is constantly broken: "Don't embarrass the boat, and don't embarrass the captain." He's tough, fair and cares about his crew, particularly when the deckhands all tried to boot Rhylee and he kept her on for her work ethic. Impressive.
While we don't know if he's currently running the boat of the upcoming season of Below Deck at this exact moment (although it's probable), he's taking the time to take care of himself, like going to the gym with a mask. Bravo, Captain Lee.
